About Event
Upon learning of Tyger Dhula's Les McCann obsession, one half of Burrow gave the other half a similar mission: please acquire and bring home every single Caetano Veloso album you encounter. Why Caetano? A mountain of reasons. Most of them nostalgic. Scaling that mountain, or better yet morro, is what trying to find and buy all 63 albums credited to Veloso's name feels like (114 if you count the singles...). But if it's a morro we're talking, then the view from the top, which is dense with vegetation but not terribly elevated, would be of an idyllic stretch of the Atlantic. Not a bad place to take a seat and listen to the ebb and flow of the waves and of an absolutely bombastic, culture-altering career. For this man has defied genres, expectations and political regimes to cement himself among this era's greatest artists. From Tropicalia to samba and musique concrete, come take a stroll down the morro and sample the sweet Brazilian fruits of Caetano Veloso's lifelong labour of love.
This session will include spoken introductions to (some of) the music. Dialogue encouraged!
